Distance Education Students

As an alternative to traveling to Newport, you can pursue your Joint Professional Military Education Phase I from your current location. The College of Distance Education (CDE) at the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) offers the same rigorous curriculum and world-class faculty either online or at various bases around the United States.

About Distance Education

Through CDE’s convenient and flexible education formats, officers and select government employees pursue the same caliber of courses as resident students. The core areas of study are strategy and war, theater security decision making, and joint maritime operations.

Distance education students have access to online student resources and, upon graduation, become part of the same global network of alumni.
