The IOSG serves as the school’s principal forum for addressing a full range of Indian Ocean strategy and policy issues. The study group’s activities include group meetings, sponsorship of a visiting speaker's program, and workshops and conferences on regional issues and topics.
Additionally, the IOSG coordinates the dissemination of current research and the publication of final research results to inform the Department of the Navy, the Department of Defense, and the broader U.S. Government community of interest, especially in the realms of strategy, policy, and planning.
The group has also been engaged in directly supporting senior DoD decision makers on strategic issues in the region.
