Biography

Associate Professor Chad Piacenti serves on the faculty of the College of Maritime Operational Warfare at the U.S. Naval War College, where he teaches naval theory and operational planning. He joined the faculty in 2010 as a military professor teaching Joint Military Operations and transitioned to a civilian appointment in 2017 following retirement from active duty. During his 21‑year naval career, he served as an intelligence officer and joint operational planner at the operational and theater levels, including assignments as a Joint Task Force J2 in Kabul and Expeditionary Strike Group N2 for CTF‑51, with deployments across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

2017

Associate Professor

Associate Professor in the College of Maritime Operational Warfare (CMOW). Teaches the Maritime Staff Operators Course (MSOC) and develops Intelligence-related curriculum.

2015

Military Professor

Military professor in Joint Military Operations and Senior Intelligence Officer for the Naval War College from 2011 to 2015. Taught operational art and military planning. Developed and managed intelligence-related curriculum for the in residence courses of the Naval War College.

2010

J2, Joint Task Force 435, Kabul Afghanistan

As J2, developed and implemented plans and policy and built an intelligence staff from the ground up to coordinate intelligence operations and support to the JTF. Coordinated oversight of all interrogation and biometric operations for Afghanistan.

2008

Intelligence Plans Officer, JTF Ramadi

Responsible for Intelligence and planning support to the JTF Commander, overseeing the day to day operations of Forward Operating Base Ramadi, including threat analysis and force protection. Provided intelligence support to the embedded Provincial Reconstruction Team (ePRT) Ramadi.

2006

N2, Amphibious Squadron FOUR

As N2 for the WASP Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) and CTF 51 N2, responsible for naval intelligence collection and operations for all U.S. Fifth Fleet waters outside the Strait of Hormuz. Participated in planning for and executing the Operation SEA DRAGON, a CENTCOM-wide naval operation.

Senior Analyst, U.S. National Intelligence Cell, Pristina, Kosovo (Oct 2002-Mar 2003) . Responsible for daily analysis and reporting of significant events in Kosovo to CDR, USEUCOM and staff.
