Visitors
Visitors to the college can enjoy lectures and events, explore NWC museum, and spend time with family and friends who work or attend classes on campus. We are a secure naval facility, so visitors typically must be sponsored by a current resident student or faculty or staff member to receive gate access.
Naval Station Newport Pass and ID Office
Click to Open The Pass and ID Office is located on Cloyne Court off Training Station Road just before the bridge outside of Gate 1, Naval Station Newport. Most visitors will need to go to the Pass and ID Office prior to driving to Gate 1. Please have vehicle registration, insurance card, and driver’s license. The visitor’s sponsor will need to submit a Gate Access Request to NWC Security by 2:30 p.m. on the day prior to the visit.
Note: If you are visiting outside of normal working hours, proceed to Gate 1.
Getting to Pass and ID Office Visitor with sponsor
Click to Open Most visitors to NWC are sponsored by a member of the faculty or staff and resident students. The sponsor needs to fill out a Gate Access Request from the NWC Intranet to allow visitor base access. This will place the visitor on the base access list and NWC Security will have a visitor badge for each visitor ready at the quarterdeck in Conolly Hall. The sponsor will need to sign in the visitor at the quarterdeck. If a reserved parking spot is required, the sponsor needs to include that in the Gate Access Request.
Visitor interested in a specific NWC department
Click to Open If you have no current affiliation with the NWC, but wish to establish contact with a NWC department of interest for professional and academic purposes, please take a look throughout the site for your area of interest. Once you have contacted a department and determined a mutually agreeable relationship, that specific department will sponsor individual/group.
More Visitor InformationTours
The college occasionally provides tours for groups that have an academic tie or professional connection with the college. Submit requests through outreach@usnwc.edu. Provide group name, number, who is in your group, and specific interests.
The Public Affairs Office will review tour requests on a case-by-case basis to determine whether the request can be accommodated. If you are interested in other commands on base or the broader Navy presence in Newport, please contact the Naval Station Newport Public Affairs Office at 401-856-5060.
